Mañana is Today

by Ernesto Calderón

The autobiography is the culmination of fourteen years of ardent dedication. The primary reasons Mr. Calderón wrote this work was 1) to document life experiences of his family and 2) to expose the lack of documentation of the Xicano experience in the McLennan County and Central Texas area.

The book is filled with biographical accounts and thoughts about Xicano social issues of the time. Mr. Calderón archives his progress through public school, a military career and his activist period with the Alliance of Mexican Americans, Raza Unida Party and his association with Juarez Lincoln University, Austin. This is a must-read work for all interested in the Xicano experience in Texas and the governmental and social service entities of the Xicano movement era. Mr. Calderon's book is full of valid information on community advocacy. Humbly, the author does not claim the level of contribution made to the Xicano Community but rather leaves that for others to decide through this book.
